A resume (shokumu-keirekisho) is a key document that determines whether a job seeker passes the initial screening. However, many people find it surprisingly difficult to actually put pen to paper, even when they understand the basic structure. The most common reason is the lack of concrete reference examples — "I don't know how to express my experience in words" or "I'm not sure what level of detail is appropriate."
This article gathers 30 resume sample sentences organized by job type and years of experience. We have prepared examples that match a wide range of situations, including sales, IT engineering, administrative work, marketing, and customer service, as well as recent graduates within their first few years and mid-career professionals with over ten years of experience. Use the example closest to your own background as a base, and rewrite it with your own company names and concrete numbers to complete a resume that draws hiring managers in.
Before introducing the examples, let's briefly cover how to make the most of them. Used correctly, examples can dramatically speed up your resume writing. Used incorrectly, however, they may produce a generic document that fails to convey your strengths.
Resume examples are templates designed to fit common situations and should be treated as a foundation. Copying them word-for-word will not communicate your individuality. Use the examples as a base, then layer in your own company names, products, technology stack, and quantitative results to compose your own version. The 30 examples in this article are intentionally written so that the structure remains easy to use even after the specifics are replaced.
If your career spans multiple roles or job types, do not rely on a single example. For instance, a former salesperson now working as a marketer can combine a sales example and a marketing example. The principle of a resume is to "describe the work you have actually performed," so do not hesitate to mix and match examples that fit each phase of your career.
Whether you use an example or write from scratch, the impact of a resume is determined by whether it includes numbers. Sales figures, achievement rates, number of customers handled, project size, and reduction rates make the scale and impact of your work visible to the reader. The example sentences in this article all include numerical placeholders, so be sure to replace them with figures from your own experience.
The sales field accounts for a large share of mid-career hires. Achievements such as sales figures, win rates, and ranking are easy to express in numbers, so the key is to convey them concretely.

Once you have a draft resume based on the examples, the final touch is what separates a good resume from a great one. Below are three checks to make before you submit.
While examples are designed to fit common situations, the company you are applying to is unique. Be sure to revise your resume for each application, emphasizing experience and numbers that match the role you are targeting and toning down content that has little relevance. Even just rearranging the order of items can significantly change the impression.
Within a single resume, it is also important to keep numerical units consistent. Switching abruptly between yen amounts, percentages, and number of cases can blur the impression. Whenever possible, choose units appropriate to the field — yen amounts for sales, percentages for ratios — and work in numbers that hiring managers can easily compare.
After writing, take time to leave the resume aside and re-read it later, or have a friend or career advisor in another industry read it. The aim is to confirm that the document is intelligible to readers who do not share your industry's vocabulary or context. The fact that resumes are read by HR departments unfamiliar with the field — not only by hiring managers — also justifies this step.
A resume is the most important document for showcasing your career. Use the examples in this article as a base to organize your own experience step by step, and complete a single document that makes a hiring manager say, "I want to meet this person."
